A hooked in backroll is a great beginner trick. Once you get the hang of popping and jumping, one of the first tricks to try is a backroll. When you first start to learn the backroll you can use the kite to gain a little bit of extra height. Check out the videos above to get some tips on how to stick your hooked in backrolls.
Ride in at a moderate pace with the kite at 11 or 1 with your hands close to the center of the bar. Recommend having your kite depowered so that its comfortable riding with the barr all the way in.
Suddenly edge really high upwind and kick off the water with your back foot, pulling in on the bar
Look over your front shoulder and let your weight take you around the full rotation
Tuck you knees up to speed up the rotation, extend your legs to slow everything down
Spot your landing and get that board back underneath you. If you are catching an edge, go higher so that you have the time. To do this, pop harder (kick off the water with more force) or use the kite more
Land with the board running downwind
Get back onto your heel edge, spin the bar with you front hand going down. Ride away like Sam Light would. Sick.
