The jump transition is a great addition to your riding. Once you get the hang of basic jumps and have good kite control your ready to go. You can practice this move on every run, which is great as jump transitions are the kind of trick that just get better and better with practice. It's all about timing and feel. Practice getting more air in your jump, and landing softer with more speed.
You can progress this trick with grab, backroll and frontroll variations.
Trick Steps
1
Ride into the trick with normal speed and start edging into the wind. Send your kite up to about 11 oclock before you take off.
2
As you start to slow down edge harder and pop.
As you are popping steer the kite back aggressively overhead.
3
As you are in the air look down to spot your landing and begin to position your body and board for the landing. Remember you will be landing pointing downwind.
4
Once you start to drop down from the kiteloop aggressively steer the kite toward the new direction you will be riding. If you find you are landing and stopping in the water before you start riding it's because your aren't diving the kite hard enough.
5
Land pointing your board downwind, bend your knees to absorb the impact.
6
Ride away, you just nailed your first Jump Transition!
