The very first thing you learn when your going out for a strapless session. Takes a while to get comfortable with it but with enough practice it will start to feel natural.
You'll want moderate wind conditions to learn this so you dont get thrashed. Similar principles to water starting on a twin tip but there are a few subtle differences. Watch the videos and look at the tips below to get it down!
Trick Steps
1
With your kite at 12, go out into the water with your board until you are waist deep.
2
Put your back to the wind and with your front hand, point the nose of the board a little bit downwind, whilst keeping the kite steady with your back hand
3
Sit in the water and put your feet ontop of the board. Put pressure on your heels to dig the heel edge of the board in so that it remains under your control. Keep your knees bent and the Kite at 12
4
Dive the kite just as you would with a twin tip
5
When the kite starts the pull, keep more weight on the back leg and let the board run downwind until you are up and on the plane.
6
If you are getting pulled over the front, put more pressure on your heels when sitting in the water and maybe depower the kite. If it seems like there isnt enough power, point the board further downwind to aid the boards planing.
